Writing takes many forms. We are taught from a young age how to write, and throughout school we get to experiment and learn about many different types of writing. It is essential for communication and enjoyment. Without writing, we would not have most of the things we have today. Writing means something different to every person, and for many people, it is a way to clear their mind; for others, it is a way to make a living. Finding your relationship with writing can be fun. Writing for school can suck, and I think most would agree with this statement, but when you are writing about things you actually enjoy, writing can be fun (believe it or not).
Personally, I am not a creative writer. I have tried many times, but I never feel like my creative writing is good enough. I love to read other people’s writing, and I love writing about things I enjoy. Sometimes all it takes to become a great writer is practice, which could probably be said for everything. With all of that in mind, writing can really be anything you want it to be. Some of the best writers have thrown out conventional rules and left their mark on writing, and I would even argue that writing is ever changing. Even if you feel intimidated by writing, you should try because you never know what you may create!
Here are some helpful tips for writing:
The writing process looks different for everyone. Do whatever works for you!
Use the tools and resources around you. If you know someone that is willing to read your writing and give you feedback, ask them for help. It pays to use people you know.
Just write! Something great can come of just writing down whatever you want as long as you keep working on it.
