About

Tennessee Technological University’s student-run literary magazine, the Iris Review, will offer two literary prizes for high school students in Cumberland, Dekalb, Fentress, Jackson, Overton, Putnam, Smith, and White counties. In addition to publishing work from our local Tennessee Tech community, we seek to recognize promising young writers from the area.

The Iris Review Young Writers Competition is funded by the English Department at Tennessee Tech, named after the student run literary magazine, and judged by editors currently enrolled in the literary magazine editing class.

Two prizes will be awarded in 2024:

  • Budding Writer Award for Prose (one $50 prize and publication)

  • Budding Writer Award for Poetry (one $50 prize and publication)
